I should receive the mixer tomorrow and I’m waiting for the remaining stuff to arrive within a week or two max.

So if all goes according to schedule there should be a new episode of “A Saudi Life” on new years!

So why did I stop the podcast? One reason for me stopping the podcast was returning home and the lack of time to dedicate for it, another reason was that I wanted to do the podcast in a different format, mainly wanted to make it into somewhat of a chat and interview podcast where I meet different people either local or expats in Saudi Arabia to talk about life in Saudi and their experiences. The last reason meant that I needed to get some new equipment as the current setup is poor not to mention the loss of my recording mic.

So here’s the deal, I went online and found the gear I need on Amazon would cost me around $500 not including the cost of shipping it to Saudi Arabia. So I setup a wish list with the equipment I need and if you enjoyed the show and wish to contribute to it you could either buy some of the stuff on the wish list or you could donate what you can through PayPal till we get the money I need for the equipment.

So now its in your hands. Either way I hope to get the podcast back online sooner or later, but you could make it sooner if you like.

So now that things are back to normal I should work on getting this site back active. So I doubt I would have the mind set to post on regular bases to the blog, so don’t expect much in that aspect. However, I am seriously considering relaunching the podcast with a few changes, mainly it will be mostly an interview with an individual either local or an expat about life in Saudi Arabia. To get that up and running I need to get some new equipment, mainly a couple of quality mic’s and a mixer. This is where I need your help, if you have any experience in such a setup please let me know your recommendations. The current setup I’m looking at would cost me about $500 with shipping and I’m not really excited about paying so much as I’m busy with my private business that is already costing me a lot.

In conclusion keep an eye out, with any luck the podcast will be back and hopefully better.

I am working on the setup for relaunching the podcast. I did some reaserch and decided to get the “M-Audio Fast Track Pro” as the input device on my Macbook Pro. Now I need microphones and am confused, so if anybody has any experience with microphones I would appreciate your help. I will be conducting interviews for the podcast at the office with my guest present so I will need two mics. Also my budget is limited specially since I might have to order it from the USA.

If all goes well the first episode of the relanch will be out Feb 1st, 2010. So a bit about the new format, I’m planning to devide the show into 2 parts mainly, first part will an interview with a Saudi or none-Saudi living in Saudi to talk about life in Saudi Arabia. The second part will be to answer questions about Saudi Arabia. Therefore I’m reachingout to people out there to send in their questions and for any residents of Saudi Arabia interested in sharing their experiance of life in Saudi Arabia to let me know to arrange a possible interview. I also would appreciate any feedback in regards to the website and the podcast.
