Commentary

News like this has been seen a lot in Saudi and many people have started making a big deal about it saying that such acts are foreign to Saudi society. Now such acts are not common but they are not foreign, they have been happening for years. So what changed? a more liberal media that can talk of such news when in the old days such news was not allowed. I also have to say believe this or not this news is good. No I’m not saying the death of the poor child is good, only an inhuman person would say such a sick thing. What I am saying is having such news published makes people aware of the problem and makes fighting it a lot easier instead of acting like it doesn’t exist. I ready a few days ago that the Saudi government has started establishing family abuse centers all around the country, a late step but better late then never.

I had no idea that family crisis centers existed in Saudi Arabia, or were even legal.

I’m glad that you are able to publish that information on this blog.

Family crises center were just established less then a month ago in Saudi Arabia by the government. With 50 crises centers to be working within the next few days. Employees of these centers are required by law to report any child abuse or suspicion under the penalty of jail for not reporting such acts. A good start and look foreword for more. To note the center are now known as child safety centers with a plan to expand them within a year to a full family crises center.

It’s my first time to visit your website. I just felt that i need to stop and read your post. I feel bad about this information and i agree that people should be aware of issues like this. Father should be responsible enough to take care of their children, right?
